"Hands-on experience in biochemical, pharmaceutical and radiochemical laboratories, including GMP laboratories, is the strength of the second module of the Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry / Radiopharmacy postgraduate course. In addition, this module covers all practical and theoretical aspects of radiotracer development and production and quality control for clinical routine and pre-clinical research".

Learning objectives

Participants will know

  • the fundamentals of radionuclide production and generator systems,
  • design and in vitro- & in vivo-characterization of radiolabelled peptides and antibodies,
  • the chemistry of Tc, Re and other radiometals, including the usage of kits,
  • the chemistry of 11C and 18F and of other radiohalogens,
  • practical aspects of bringing radiotracers from bench-to-bedside,
  • the potentials and limitations of in vitro and animal models.
